Wollongong sits on the Endeavour Energy network, and wet or stormy weather on the escarpment has tripped supply to the northern suburbs more than once. On 5 May 2024 a fault at the Bellambi Creek substation left 40,297 properties without power across Bulli, Thirroul, Woonona and Austinmer, and a second fault hit around 20,000 properties the next morning.
